3 Procs for Processing Information
We acquire and process new information using three methods:
1) We develop one hypothesis. Or begin with one hypothesis. We assume it to be true. We look at a series of facts. We use facts that fit the hypothesis and discard the facts that do not fit the hypothesis (selective perception).
2) We develop a series of hypothesis. We look at a series of facts. We use the hypothesis that explains most facts. We can commit a fallacy here again if we only use the hypothesis that we find convenient.
3) We do not develop any hypothesis. We look at a series of facts and let the facts develop the hypothesis themselves. This is the hardest to do. Empiricism.
